Netcom is recruiting for a Senior System Administrator.

Department: Information Technology / Management Information Systems

General Function: Reporting to the Head of the Information Technology/Information Systems Department. The Senior System Administrator is responsible for all the management and strategy of the integrity and security of Netcom’s internal business network systems and architectures. This includes project management, procurement, implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring and the development of all systems, processes and procedures within Netcom related to IT/MIS.

This is an autonomous position where the individual is required to have strong discipline and technical skills with very little supervision. Projects will be assigned to the Senior System Administrator with budget and general requirements and expectations from the CEO, CTO and Head of IT/MIS will be that the project will delivered on time and within schedule meeting all requirements.

Job Duties (include but not limited to):

  • Manage projects and changes and ensure proper completion of projects and documentation
  • Service, upgrade, replace, maintain, and support all network hardware and software systems (servers, switches, routers, firewall, PBX, etc.)
  • Ensure secure operation of all servers and services though the use of security and encryption tools such as SSH, OpenSSL, IPSec
  • Protect company intellectual property from external and internal malicious attacks and removal
  • Implement system policies to ensure network security and adherence by all users to company policies
  • Conduct system analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
  • Ability to learn and integrate new technologies very quickly and resolve any potential problems
  • Responsible for emergency response as needed to correct system failures
  • Administer, maintain, and perform disaster recovery plan.
  • Provide ongoing weekly status reports and monthly summary reports.

Skills Requirements:

  • BS degree in computer related field required; MS degree desirable
  • 3 to 5 years experience in System Administrations
  • Strong experience in managing IT project and using project tools and principles
  • Strong experience with installing and maintaining network devices (Cisco switches, Juniper routers and UAC, and other types as well)
  • Strong experience in the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of server and company hardware and software for standard functions and applications (MS Windows Server 2003, MS Exchange, Linux Server, Solaris, Application and File Servers, etc.)
  • Experience with file synchronization and sharing, active directory, firewall administration, DNS, DHCP, and FTP services
  • Experience with information security solutions (VPN, CA eTrust Suite, SSH, OpenSSL, IPSec, etc)
  • Experience at diagnosing and remedying serious server and network related problems and failures promptly and effectively
  • Experience and knowledge of the following:
  1. Standard backup infrastructures and system-level security procedures
  2. SAN and Disaster recovery architecture
  3. Cisco telephony, VoIP, and PBX systems
  4. Thin clients system architecture
  5. Network protocols including TCP/IP and bridging
  • Strong experience and knowledge with the following MS Office applications – Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio and Project
  • Experience using reporting tools such as Crystal Reports
  • Strong written and oral communication skills a must
  • Team oriented individual
